The company was founded on December 11, 1969. By the hands of mr. Lopes, mr. We read, mr. Leite and Mr. Manuel Guimarães. With only 10 employees, where everyone's dream and ambition to produce and sell quality shoes were high.
However, after 4 years of its foundation, some difficulties began to be felt in terms of finding clients and managing the company financially by the previous founders. Just 15 days before the remarkable and historic 25th of April 1974 (Revolução dos Carnations), Mr. Alberto Cunha saw in the company Calçados Tulipa Negra, SA, the opportunity to continue his legacy started in 1962, where he himself with with his own hands, he built his first company Calçados Dura, from the concession of the structures, to its organization chart, production management and customer "portfolio".

The acquisition of the company Calçados Tulipa Negra, S.A., by Mr. Alberto Cunha, was the solution found, to increase production capacity. Because, the capacity of his first company was no longer enough to respond to the good service and good knowledge of “savoir faire” in relation to the volume of business he created. After 20 years of producing exclusively for the Portuguese market, Calçados Tulipa Negra, S.A., began to expand and opened its doors to the international market. This expansion gave the company the growth to expand production and the conditions to be able to meet the demands of the markets where it is currently located.
For many years, until June 28, 2000, mr. Alberto Cunha, decided to retire from the company, having prepared his sons Carlos Alberto Cunha, Dra. Graça Vieira and Milton Cunha to learn about the company's philosophy and standards, from production to the relationship with its employees. This is one of the strongest reasons why the company still works with the same rigor and determination today.
